Good Idea! Lets disgrace the Presidency!!

I think economically this country is going forward at Warp 10, but mentally, we are in a downward spiral that will be the end of this country as we know it. Everything that we love and cherish about it will be replaced by the warped perceptions of the few who pull the strings.

So Kalam uncle's term as President is coming to an end and all over the country, our elected representatives are shamelessly making a mockery of themselves, the post of the President and US!! First, they can't come up with any anybody, and if they do, it doesn't work out and finally after half a dozen false starts, UPA is backing Mrs. Pratibha Patil and NDA, Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. From NDA (read BJP), we can't really expect anything, they've been out of their wits since they lost power a few years ago but its the UPA who seem to have lost their minds now.

I didn't know much about Pratibha Patil... but from what did I know, I thought her to be a decent person. Her with-holding of the stupid/communal anti-conversion bill in Rajasthan as Governor is most commendable. But suddenly, it seems her nomination for Presidency has flipped her mind! Or maybe the real Pratibha Patil is coming out now. I mean... what is she doing? She doesn't know our history (Muslim 'invaders' brought the purdah system to India comment) and now it seems, she also talks to spirits (she claimed that she recently 'chatted' with the spirit of the Brahma Kumaris sect's founder at Mount Abu. He died in 1969 CE) !!!!!

So thats what we are doing now? We are replacing a scientist in Rashtrapati Bhavan with a loony? The CPI(M) thinks the whole country is an idiot. They say "We did not say a person has to be an atheist to be President. Her name was not given by a Baba" (Prakash Karat). Right... so Mr. Karat, what does 'not being an atheist' haveta do with talking to spirits? Is talking to Spirits a religion?

Really?!?!

I mean COME ON!! MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS ABOUT OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY, BELIEVING IN SUPERSTITIONS?!?! Sure sure, in this country, a person has the freedom to do what he/she wants but do we want the first citizen of the Republic of India to being an ignorant, superstitious person?!?! Is there no one in this country better than her? This is so SO SOOOOO frustrating! And its not just that, she has cases against her in courts (She is currently one of the 34 respondents in an ongoing case in the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court on the subject of mismanagement of a bank and misappropriation of funds by its Managing Directors). Also, she has been accused of shielding her brother who in turn is accused of murder! Though the last two allegations are subject to judgment by the courts, do we want a President who is standing trial? So, ignorant, superstitious and under-trail?!?! Really?!?! There is nobody better?!?! We are going to replace a national hero with that?!?!

I think we are... UPA (and hence the numbers) are behind her. The Third Front is useless and NDA lives in alternate reality... so UPA is going to have it their way... they'll shove a compromise candidate down our throats and claim that they've made history by giving us the first female President of India.

They've got tunnel vision I think.

Its going to be another leap backward for our country and a disgrace to the office of the President of the Republic of India.
